Celebrating Navarro College's 75th Anniversary: Looking Back. Moving Forward.


  • Classroom
    ORIGINAL PROGRAMS

    The College originally only had five programs from 1947-1951. Auto Mechanics School, Cabinet Making School, Auto Body Repair, and Assistant Manager School.

  • 1940s Basketball Team
    MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM ESTABLISHED

    The men's basketball team was founded in 1946 and headed by NJC's first coach Kenneth Clark. In 1960, the NJC Basketball team won the conference championship (Head Coach Paul Burch).

  • 1970s Waxahachie Center
    RIBBON CUTTING OF THE WAXAHACHIE CENTER

    In 1983, Dr. Kenneth Walker and Ellis County officials were present at the dedication of the Waxahachie Center. This facility was later replaced with a permanent location - a 37,000 square-foot structure on John Arden Drive in 1991.  

  • 1980 Barracks Bunch Reunion
    BARRACKS BUNCH REUNION

    In 1980, an annual reunion was held for the group of first ever students who graduated during the years 1947-1951. They were called the Barracks Bunch because all of their classes were taken in barracks on the original NJC site. Approximately 800 students were part of the group.

  • 2020-2021 Commencement
    2020-2021 COMMENCEMENT

    Ceremony for all 2020 & 2021 graduates was held at the Community National Bank & Trust Stadium on May 13, 2021.

  • 75th Birthday
    75TH BIRTHDAY ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2021
     

On Thursday, September 16, 2021, Navarro College will begin a year-long celebration recognizing 75 years of academic excellence. We invite you to join us at the many events and activities we have planned.

This anniversary is an opportunity for us to honor our past while we embrace our future. A lot has changed since the school's founding in 1946 and we look forward to celebrating Navarro College's countless achievements through the years.
